Visual and Tactile Textures

The students draw patterns and rhythms of lines and shapes on pieces of aluminum to create textures that can be seen and felt to the touch. The aluminum piece is then attached to a piece of black paper and the lines and shapes of patterns and rhythm were continued in crayon to demonstrate textures that can be seen but not felt.

Collage What is in the Matisse Fishbowl?

The students are introduced to artist Henri Matisse and then created a collage in the style of Matisse using  organic shapes. We refer to the painting of his goldfish and use the fishbowl as the theme for the children's collage.
